With the rapid development of petrochemical industry, the application of large oil tanks in oil storage and transportation is more and more extensive. The quality and safety of oil storage tank directly affect the safety of petrochemical system. In order to ensure the safety of oil storage tanks, a key factor is to prevent deformation of welding, and the welding process of oil storage tanks has a great impact on the quality of oil storage tanks. In this paper, the causes of welding deformation of oil tank are analyzed, and some corresponding countermeasures are put forward to provide some effective references.

Causes of welding deformation of oil storage tank

Oil storage tank is a thin container, with a variety of welding methods, many problems are encountered in the welding process, one of the main problems is the welding deformation. In particular, the bottom of the storage tank, because of its more welds and thin bottom plate, is most likely to produce obvious wave deformation. The causes of tank deformation can be divided into the following four points :

1, the stress generated by the transverse contraction deformation of the welded steel plate causes the welding deformation; 

2, the radial contraction stress causes the contraction deformation of the steel plate; 

3, the deformation caused by the Angle deformation of the bottom plate and the radial contraction of the middle plate, the superposition of the stress at the bottom of the corner and the bottom plate and the weld of the plate ring; 

4, the combination of the above three kinds of stress makes the steel plate unstable, resulting in wave deformation of the oil storage tank.

Effective measures to solve the deformation of oil storage tank

1, Use good welding equipment

The good performance of the welding equipment can prevent the deformation of the oil tank to some extent. Good welding equipment must be selected. Only welding equipment with good comprehensive performance can ensure the stability of welding quality.

2. Select a good material for welding

The selection of welding materials needs to be calculated by professional and technical personnel, and through certain scientific tests to obtain reliable data, and also through repeated tests to determine the final. Under the premise of ensuring that the technical data can meet the corresponding standards, the best welding materials must be selected for welding to effectively ensure that the quality of welding can meet the corresponding standards.

3. Suitable welding environment

In the welding process of crude oil storage tank, the welding environment is also an important factor affecting the welding quality. The welding environment needs to be in accordance with certain requirements, such as some materials can not be stored in the open air, avoid wind and sun, and even some materials have specific requirements for the dry humidity of the environment. Therefore, in order to effectively ensure that the welding quality can meet the corresponding standards, it is necessary to create a suitable welding environment for welding.

4. Improve the working quality of welding personnel

Welding workers need to have high work skills, but also should have good occupational habits and quality awareness, which is a key factor to ensure the success of welding. Before welding, welders must make full preparations, including welding equipment debugging, but also adjust their own psychological state, ready to work pieces and welding materials. In the welding process, we must be dedicated to eliminate all external interference to ensure that the welding quality meets the relevant requirements to ensure the quality and safety of the oil storage tank.

5. Choose a reasonable welding process

Due to the variety of welding methods, technicians need to choose the appropriate welding method according to the actual situation and rules and regulations. Material treatment, pre-welding preheating, welding management, welding parameters, interlayer temperature control, thermal slow cooling, heat treatment and other links will have detailed provisions, according to these provisions to select the appropriate welding process, so that the welded storage tank can meet the corresponding quality requirements.
